identity

I watched the real sketches done by Dove. They send a powerful message about self-image and who a woman thinks she is; her identity.

When I watched it, I was reminded of an activity done in my 12th grade creative writing class. My teacher had each of us choose someone in the class and write a poem about them. In my mind it seemed logical that no one would write about me, that I would be forgotten.

To my staggering surprise, about four people wrote about me. Their words weren't insincere or superficial, but real. I remember that one said something to the effect that I "...can make one believe that they can do anything and everything they want to do; there are no limits to their capabilities." Another read that I have a smile that can cheer a sad face, and bring sunshine, that I was kind and contented.

What a woman sees about herself is more like a circus mirror persuasion compared to those around her, which don't even equate from a mirror or reflecting glass, but a clear, absolute image that doesn't reflect rather illuminates truth from transparency.

Cheers!

love, Maddie Violet

p.s. Love yourself. The great thing about this century is that a woman can find her identity without latching on to stereotypes. So go ahead and love your freckles, love the caramel fat that hangs from your arms.

Oh, I love this! All of those things they wrote about you seem very true.

What you said about the circus mirror is so spot on. It's a constant struggle to see ourselves clearly.
